The Hill Air Force Base Arts & Crafts Center combines several functions under one roof. Each shop is unique with customer service that will exceed your expectations. The Frame Shop does custom design for military shadow boxes, artwork, paintings, coins, certificates, diplomas, drawings, cross-stitch, textile art, puzzles, posters, prints, and dry mounts. The Embroidery Shop creates custom products along with name tapes and patches. The Engraving Shop offers sublimation, laser engraving and etching on a variety of gift items. Auto Hobby is the perfect location to work on your vehicle or get inspections completed. We pride ourselves in exceeding your expectations and providing the best customer service in the Air Force.

Instructors Wanted

The Hill AFB Arts and Crafts Center is in need of instructors. We are looking for instructors in: Basic Drawing, Digital Photography, Painting, Water Colors, Leather Working, Jewelry, Quilting and more.Courses we already have are Photography, Wood Working, Stained and Fused Glass. Please Bring:

  • Examples of your work.
  • Course Outline.
  • List of Costs and Materials needed to complete the course.

Embroidery

Dozens of items are available (or can be ordered) that can be personalized at the embroidery shop including patches, caps, name taps, baby blankets key fobs, luggage tags and more.  You can select from a wide range of designs and colors can be customized.  Embroidery experts are available to help you create our own design, you’re only limited by your imagination. 

Name Tapes (ABU, BDU) with or without Velcro:

  • ABU                     $3.00
  • ABU with Velcro    $4.50
  • Luggage tags        $5.00 (with name)

The embroidery staff inputs your design into the computer and draws the stitches.  Once that process is complete the embroidery machine is set up with the proper colors (there are 12 to select from) and the design is transferred to the selected product.  

Frame Shop

You name it, we will frame it. We custom design military shadow boxes, artwork, oil paintings, coins, certificates, diplomas, drawings, cross-stitch, textile art, puzzles, posters, prints, and dry mounts.

We specialize in conservation framing and we guarantee the quality of our work. Our professional staff is very experienced and we listen to our customers' needs, creating the best customized framing for your art. If you find a lower price somewhere else please let us know and we will try and match it.

Auto Hobby

Auto Hobby Shop:

The Auto Hobby Shop is the perfect location to service your vehicle.

We offer Lifts and many different tools for the job.

The shop offers Self-Help for repair and maintenance of privately owned Automobiles, Trucks, and SUVs, and Motorcycles.  The enclosed shop is a convenient work space for most automotive repair and service.

Here are some of the services you can do yourself:

  • Oil Changes and Lubrication
  • Brake Pad/Shoe, Rotor/Drum Replacement
  • McPherson Strut and Shock Replacement.
  • Suspension Service and Repair
  • Tire Changes and Flat Repair
  • Tune-Up & Spark Plug Replacement
  • Clutch Service
  • Cooling System Service
  • U-Joint/Drive-Line Service and Repair
  • Axle and Hub Service
  • Light, Horn, and Electrical Service

Operating Practices:

The Auto Hobby Shop is not to be confused with repair shops operated as revenue producing activities by AAFES.

Use of shop equipment is by authorized shop personnel and trained customers only.  All users must know how to safely operate equipment, what hazards exist, and what protective equipment they need and how to use it.  In order to work in the shop you must first get certification or recertification if needed.  Certification is needed to understand shop policies and demonstrate safe operation of equipment.  The best time to obtain certification is Tuesday-Thursday, 0800-1500.  Fridays, 1200-1400, Saturdays, 0800-1200.  There must be two staff members are on duty for Friday, Saturday certification.  Please call 777-3476 for more information.

Please Note:  Certification is valid for one year, and generally takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete.  Tire changer qualification may take up to one hour.

Auto Hobby Shop Self Help hours of operation:  Friday 0800-2000 Saturday 0800-1600.

Clean-Up begins one hour before closing.

The Auto Hobby Shop offers State of Utah Emission and Safety Inspections for vehicles under 7800lbs.  Please call Tuesday-Thursday 0800-1500 for an appointment.  There is also an early bird drop off if needed.  Patrons are required to bring their vehicle registration.  Please call the Auto Shop at 777-3476 for more details.
