SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Registration for this fun event begins May 1st. Our theme this year is Voyage to Book Island so come sail with us to a tropical paradise through books, activities, and games. You can also win cool prizes weekly just for meeting your reading goals.

ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The Gerrity Memorial Library at Hill AFB serves all active duty military, retired military, DOD civilian personnel and family members. A military ID or a CAC is required for registration and for checking out any library item.
The library’s collection of over 26,000 items includes bestsellers, fiction and non-fiction for adults, young adults, and children. It also includes audio-books, music CDs and DVDs (both nonfiction and entertainment).

Registered library users have access to an extensive collection of downloadable audio-books which is available free with an authorized log- in. Free Wi-Fi access is available in the library as well as a 16 station computer lab. A free fax service is also available.

A book discussion club especially for stay-at-home spouses associated with our Hill AFB community. Military and civilian spouses are welcome. Come for a lively afternoon that will satisfy your love of books and your sweet tooth at the same time. Chocolates and/or cookies highly recommended. Group will meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 11 a.m. Books will be available at the library.

Spanish Conversations
Meet 3 times a month. Whether you're just learning Spanish or simply need a refresher course in the language, this class will have something for you. This class is free for all library customers but registration is required. Class meets the first and third Wednesday of the month at 11:30 am and also on the second Thursday of the month at 5:00 pm.

Computer Literacy

Every third Friday at 9:00 am. Basics of Microsoft Word, Emails, and Internet browsing will be covered in this class. Participants should already have basic keyboarding skills. Class is free but registration is required. Class meets every third Friday of the month at 9:00 am. 1

Story Hour is held weekly and consists of stories, songs, and crafts for preschoolers. Bring your little ones in for a free program that helps to develop literacy. Be an active participant alongside your children and watch them develop a life-long love of reading and libraries.

EDUCATION SUPPORT
The library is committed to providing the necessary resources for educational pursuits. Test study guides (CLEP, DANTES, SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, Officer Candidate test, Civil Service) are available in both print and electronic formats.

PREMIUM DATABASES INFORMATION
Premium databases are available to library users in the library or from home with an authorized password. Access to the databases is free to everyone registered with the library.

Service members and their dependents can get free one-on-one professional help 24/7 on more than 16 subjects as well as resumes and standardized tests including SAT, ACT, PSAT/NMSQT.

EBSCOHOST – A great resource for academic and professional research, homework help, military & government information, and auto repair.

FIRST SEARCH – Go here for a wealth of reference resources such as World Almanac and full text articles on many subjects.

GALE-INFOTRAC – An excellent resource for articles from journals, magazines, and newspapers from 1980’s to the present.

JANE’S ONLINE – A unique resource that provides comprehensive information about military equipment, technology, history, tactics and logistics.

NETLIBRARY – A useful resource for finding the right educational program and for preparing for exams such as CLEP.

NEWSBANK – Provides full-text access to Armed Forces and Government news as well as local, regional and national newspapers.

PETERSONS-USAF – A wonderful resource for test preparation (CLEP, DANTES, ASVAB, Officer Candidate Test, AFOQT, SAT, ACT, GED, and Civil Service exams).

SIRS KNOWLEDGE CENTER – This great resource is an invaluable research and homework tool for younger students.
