Firearm Concealed Carry Permit Permit Classes

The Rod and Gun Club is home for trap, skeet, and archery enthusiasts. Located on the west side of the base off Wardleigh Avenue in Bldg. 2702, the Rod and Gun Club houses four trap and skeet ranges and a sporting clays walking course. Tournaments and leagues and special events are held throughout the year.

Winter Hours: (1 Oct to 31 March)
Wed - Trap 1400 - 1800
Thu - Skeet 1400 - 1800
Sat - Trap 1000 - 1600
Sun - Skeet 1000 - 1600

Summer Hours: (1 April to 30 September)
Wed - Trap 1400 - 1930
Thu - Skeet 1400 - 1930
Sat - Trap 0900 - 1600
Sun - Skeet 0900 - 1600

Eligibility
Rod and Gun Club membership is open to all active duty, reserve and retired military, DoD civilians working on Hill AFB and their family members. In addition, the club has provisions, with a background check to grant, base access for civilian members.

Dues
Dues are assessed for the calendar year and are prorated starting in July. Dues are only $35 annually for new members and $30 annually for renewals. All commanders, squadron commander and above are entiled to a free membership.

Retail Store
The Club stocks a complete line of discounted shotgun reloading components and accessories in addition to other items. For a $10 fee, members may order firearms using the club's federal firearms license.

Skeet
The Club has four skeet fields capable of American or International Skeet. Each spring, the club holds a skeet league. The cost for a round of skeet is only $4.00 for nonmembers, $3.50 for members and members can buy a punch card that brings the cost down to $2.75. Shells and rental Browning Citori over and under shotguns are available at the clubhouse. Winter Skeet hours are Thursdays from 2pm to 6pm and Sundays from 10am to 4pm. Summer Skeet hours are Thursdays from 2pm to 7:30pm and Sundays from 9am to 4pm.

Trap
With four trap ranges, the Rod and Gun Club is equipped to handle a number of tournaments and leagues. Range number four is set to throw doubles. Ranges one and two have a Beomat auto loading trap holding 400 targets. Range three has an auto loading Beomat wobble trap. Four trap leagues are held each summer: one at sixteen yards, one at handicap yardage, one doubles league and a wobble trap league. The cost of a singles or wobble trap round is only $4.00 for nonmembers, $3.50 for members, and members can buy a punch card that brings the cost down to $2.75. Shells and rental Browning Citori over and under shotguns are available at the clubhouse. Winter Trap hours are Wednesdays from 2pm to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Summer Trap hours are Wednesdays from 2pm to 7:30pm and Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.

Sporting Clays
The club also has a six-station, 25 target per round walking Sporting Clays Course. Check your ability on overhead, rabbit, crossers, and incoming throws. The machines throw in different directions constantly testing your hand eye coordination. The cost per round is only $6.25 for nonmembers and for members $5.00 per round, additionally members can purchase a 10 round punch card to reduce the cost per round.

Archery
The Archery Range is located along Deer Run Drive on the northeast side of the base. The range features a measured course with distances up to seventy yards for normal practice and equipment tuning. There is a twenty-eight target field course offering a variety of shooting situations from level, uphill, downhill, and cross canyon shoots. A broadhead course is available for practice prior to the bowhunt with distances up to sixty yards. Special equipment is available to members during open hours which includes two arrow multi-fletchers, arrow straightener, arrow cut-off saw, arrow grain scale, bow scale, bow press, chronograph and an indoor paper tuning facility. Archers may obtain access to all courses for a daily fee. A variety of membership categories are available to accommodate all shooters. Hill Archers maintain an active affiliation with the Utah Bowman's Association which works to promote all aspects of the sport of archery from tournaments to bow hunting. MORE>>

Election Banquet
This annual banquet is held in January. Election of officers for the coming year are held and the highlight of the event is the awarding of approximately $500 in door prizes.

Steak Fry
The club holds its annual Steak Fry in August serving a fabulous steak dinner at a reasonable price.
